CodeScty is excited to share with you an early prototype of Lyrical Chef – a game that uses song lyrics, videos and augmented reality in problem solving activities that teach how technology works. Students can play individually or in groups, accessing rich multimedia that explains computer science terms such as decomposition, algorithmic design, pattern recognition and more.

We are actively working on developing Lyrical Chef as a web app. Your feedback will help to determine the direction of our first app release, so please make sure to fill out the survey at the end of the game!

Note: Game instructions are best experienced through your laptop or desktop computer. Additionally, a mobile device and downloadable printed material are required to navigate the game.

The "Sauce" is in the music

Our suite of content includes original music, videos, and curricula that provides a foundational understanding of computational thinking and technology, laying the groundwork for grasping more advanced concepts.

Standards Based Curriculum

The music and videos create a 1-to-1 relationship between the lyrics and computer science learning standards and serve as the vehicle to translate complex ideas. This includes “Concept” songs that teach actual computer science foundations, as well as “Perspective” songs that stimulate the imagination and inspire what’s possible in tech.

What is the age level for the game?
Lyrical Chef is designed for 7th to 10th graders. Students as early as 4th and 5th grade can certainly navigate the game, but may need some additional support.
What is augmented reality?
Do you have a favorite Snapchat or Insta filter? The mix between a real-world and virtual world is activated on your smartphone creating immersive, interactive experiences with multimedia.
How is this game related to STEAM education?
The game is layered with educational content that defines and explains basic computer science concepts. Through engaging music and videos, students practice the fundamentals of computational thinking in this block-based experience.
